What is The Family Health Center?

As in many communities and schools, there are obstacles that hinder the valuable education process of our youth. Some of those obstacles are primary health care, family, counseling, and human services. Faculty and parents know that if they could find a way to meet those needs, a student’s ability to learn would increase considerably.

You can help these families and enable these students to achieve better academically by supporting, playing in, sponsoring, or contributing funds to our Annual Family Health Center Golf Event held at Brookhaven Country Club in Farmers Branch, Texas, benefiting The Family Health Center.

Community Dental Care operates several facilities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. The Carrollton/Farmers Branch clinic is located at Vivian Field Middle School and is called The Family Health Center. This center offers dental care needs, as well as additional education programs. As a non-profit organization they need support to continue their outstanding efforts. The Andrew Magee-Scott Verplank Endowment Fund, with your help, provides that support.

The center with its professional staff offers treatment services that range from amalgam and composite fillings and extractions to limited oral surgery. Preventive dental health services include cleanings, sealants, fluoride treatments, diagnostic x-rays, oral hygiene instruction and nutritional conseling to children, adults, and senior citizens. Specialty care procedures are referred to Baylor College of Dentistry and Parkland Oral Surgery. In additional to basic medial and detal care the Center, through the school district, provides an educational program for children and their families.

The Magee-Verplank Endowment Fund

Andrew Magee, Scott Verplank, Brian Watts and Jordan Spieth grew up in this area playing junior golf at Brookhaven Country Club.  All of them have become outstanding PGA TOUR Golf Professionals. In 1992, Andrew and Scott established the Magee Verplank Endowment Fund in an effort to make a difference in the lives of others in the community they grew up in.  The nonprofit Fund works in partnership with the Community Dental Care, a United Way agency, to support our Family Health Center here in Farmers Branch.  Funds raised benefit the uninsured families and senior citizens of Carrollton and Farmers Branch.
